Baby Robin’s: 0 – 2 years
Our baby Robins have a rich, stimulating, warm and homely learning environment steeped in everyday natural sensory objects, twinkly lights and wondrous treasures begging to be explored. We follow the curiosity approach within our nursery, where our baby Robin’s first gather their items and enjoy this exciting way of learning.
In this room we embrace the fast changing environment to keep up with the ever changing interests of children, we have cosy areas where children can rest and listen to stories and songs in comfort, home areas with everyday objects that children love to explore, small world areas to encourage their imagination, our tuff trays see a vast array of activities from gloop and paint to seasonal items for the children to familiarise themselves with and make sense of the world they live in.
We have introduced our home link bags full of continuous learning opportunities for families to enjoy together. Our much loved weekend bear Poppy is a fantastic way or linking home and nursery along with lots of family photos displayed at the children’s level. We enjoy lots of outings from the park to the farm and we always love our music and movement sessions.
Little Robins 2-3
Our little Robins room holds 12 children, the room is set across two play spaces, one is full of interesting open ended resources and the other is for our budding artists as a creative room. This room has its own bathroom attached to their room which makes potty training more accessible when the time comes.
Structured and spontaneous activities are plentiful in this room to ensure children are happy and engaged. We have circle time where children are encouraged to take part as a group and make choices. We access our outdoor environment in all weathers with appropriate clothing.
We have recently introduced our weekly adventures, going out to experience different environments such as a walk to the woods, a play on the park equipment, visiting the duck pond or a trip to the local library.
Big Robin’s: 4 – 5 years
The last stop before they fly our nest, our big Robins are discovering who they are and what they can do before they leave us for school, Our big Robins day is very much like what they will experience in school with just as much fun and investigation, in this room we self register, take part in group chats to share their news and gain confidence.
We promote independence, turn taking and give them all the skills in order to exceed at school. We talk about them getting “school ready” and give them the skills in order to do this.
We provide plenty of letters and sounds activities for children to start to recognise the sounds in phase 1, we provide lots of fun opportunities to build the fine motor skills needed for early writing. Big Robins is the place for trying new things, and encouraging children to test out their ideas and extend their imaginations.
